Lot Calculator

Separate each item's cost and calculate profit or loss from the lot

What is the Lot Calculator?

The Lot Calculator is a tool designed to help you separate the cost of each item you purchased in a lot and determine the profit or loss you have when buying that lot. You can add one unit of each item or multiple units, and additionally you can calculate shipping/tax costs separately.

✨ What it does

  • Make a quick calculation to know if the lot is worth buying
  • Quickly calculate real value and profit/loss of the lot
  • Identify the most important items
  • Visualize data in multiple charts

📊 Common use cases

  • Analyze a lot before bidding at auctions
  • Buy a lot with a friend and divide the real cost equitably so each person knows how much they paid for their items
  • Analyze purchased items to quickly see profit and sell those you don't want

📋 Step-by-step guide

We explain exactly how the calculator works and how you should use it.

1. Enter the price you paid for the lot

  • Select your currency
  • You can include shipping costs here or separate them with the "include shipping/customs costs" checkbox

2. Enter the number of different items in the lot

  • Most lots have duplicate items
  • If there are 10 items but 6 are the same and 4 different, you should select 5 distinct items

3. Choose if you want to separate shipping/tax costs This allows you to distribute extra costs in two ways:

  • Per unit: Distributes shipping/customs costs among items equally regardless of their value
  • By value: Distributes shipping/tax costs proportionally to item values in the lot. If an item represents 60% of the lot's value, it will get 60% of shipping/customs costs

4. Click generate items

  • A row will be generated for each item
  • If you make a mistake, you can add new rows or delete them

5. Enter your lot items' data

  • Select number of units (default is 1)
  • Enter a name to identify the item
  • Enter the item's real value
  • Recommendation: Always calculate a conservative price and check sold listings on platforms like eBay to know what buyers actually pay for the items

6. Click calculate and get the results

  • Overall profit/loss result for the lot
  • Individual results of what each item really cost you and what percentage of the cost that item represents
