This was the last version of The Legend of Zelda distributed in Spain, and it is completely brand new and factory sealed. There are probably thousands of Spanish version copies of The Legend of Zelda that are still new and sealed, and even today they remain fairly affordable.
Nintendo initially distributed the Nintendo Entertainment System and its games in Spain through a local distributor, Spaco S.A., which handled NES distribution from around 1987 until approximately 1993. After strong sales, they purchased tens of thousands of units of The Legend of Zelda. Some of these games were later exported to other countries such as Sweden and Greece, simply because Spaco S.A. had purchased such a large quantity.
When Spaco S.A. lost the Nintendo distribution rights, the company began to decline and had difficulty selling the remaining stock. With the arrival of the Game Boy and the Super Nintendo, which were consoles Spaco could not distribute, they started liquidating the remaining games at very low prices. Even then, there was little demand, so hundreds of distribution cases filled with Spanish version copies of The Legend of Zelda remained stored in Spaco’s warehouses.
In the early 2000s, Spaco S.A. decided to sell off its remaining NES video game stock, including The Legend of Zelda. Two major buyers acquired these games.
The first was Juan Santos, a former Spaco employee who, after the company closed, ran his own console repair and modification shop and also bought and sold video games. His shop was called TecVia and was located in Vallecas, Madrid. Juan Santos purchased around 100 to 200 units and began selling them in his store around 2003. There were so many copies that he continued selling them until at least 2012.
The second buyer was Ramón Casillas Álvarez, the owner of a video game store called Game Over, located on Teodora Lamadrid Street in Barcelona. Ramón, known online as racaal, was a popular eBay seller and also began selling these games around 2003 on eBay for about 20€ to 30€ per unit. There was a lot of speculation on forums about the authenticity of these games, as buyers from all over the world were purchasing them and wondering how they could be so cheap and why there were so many. Every time a listing sold out, new units would appear.
Racaal has been selling them on eBay for more than two decades and is still selling them today. Over time, he has gradually increased the price, and as of the date of this post, January 2026, he sells them for 800€ per unit. It is rumored that he only has a few dozen units left, but no one truly knows how many remain. What can be said with certainty is that he has sold hundreds and hundreds of copies over the years.
Originally these NES games did not come factory sealed inside the distribution boxes. All of the seals were applied later, either by racaal or by Spaco S.A., before being sold to the public. However, all of the games themselves are completely brand new
