This edition has a fascinating history behind it; it was the fifth and final distribution by Spaco S.A. in Spain. This edition includes the The Legend of Zelda video game in its European English version with the code NES-ZL-GPS. It also includes an additional photocopied manual in Spanish, inserted by Spaco.
The story of this edition begins in Portugal, specifically in 1991. Since Portugal is a small country and its citizens had lower purchasing power at the time, Nintendo did not have official distribution there. However, a small company called Chaves FEIST & C LDA placed an order with Nintendo for approximately 1,000 to 2,000 units of The Legend of Zelda. Nintendo only manufactured custom boxes and manuals for orders of 5,000 units or more, but the Portuguese market was too small to request that many. Consequently, Nintendo sent generic European English units to the distributor, Chaves Feist.
Chaves FEIST & C LDA printed a manual and map in Portuguese and placed a sticker with the game description in Portuguese on the back of the box. The NES did not sell very well in Portugal, resulting in surplus units that had already been prepared for sale there.
In 1994, the Spanish distributor Spaco S.A. bought these surplus units from Chaves Feist. They removed the Portuguese map and manual but kept the rear Portuguese sticker to avoid damaging the box. They simply added a warning leaflet and a photocopied manual in Spanish, selling it with a red sticker added to the front stating 'Contiene manual de instrucciones en castellano' and a blue Spaco distributor sticker on the back.
This specific unit was never sold; it is 'New Old Stock' from a store. It has never been used, but it has been handled/processed on two occasions by the distributors in Portugal and Spain.
