This is the generic version of The Legend of Zelda for NES with the code NES-ZL-GPS. Nintendo used this version to supply countries where there was little demand for video games, such as Portugal and Greece.
This version is entirely in English and does not list any distributor or address, because local distributors in each country were responsible for printing a new manual and, in some cases, a map in the local language. Some larger distributors could also request GPS copies, as they were allowed to place smaller orders, for example 1,000 games instead of the 5,000-unit minimum required for Nintendo to print versions with country-specific distributor information.
Some of these units were sold in Portugal, South Africa, and Greece. Spain also received these units because sales in Portugal were very poor, and the Spanish distributor SPACO S.A. purchased all the remaining stock from the Portuguese distributor Chaves, Feist & Cia., Lda. It is likely that this edition was also sold in other smaller European countries.
This specific copy is a store-sealed version. All NES games in Europe were originally shipped unsealed in their distribution boxes, but some shops and local distributors sealed the games themselves for retail sale.
